Frank Richardson
Brian Starkey and I have put together this brief explanation of the message board. The Merseyside NARPO message board is a place where members can swap messages; share ideas make virtual friends and have conversations with other members. On other web sites you might see a Message Board referred to as a 'bulletin board', 'notice board' or 'forum'. Using the NARPO Message Board is simple. You leave a message on the board and other members can then see it and reply if they wish. You can read their replies and reply to them yourself in turn. The message board is divided into categories. There are currently 12 categories on the Message Board. These are, • Welcome to Merseyside NARPO forums • Topical Discussions, • History, • Deaths of Members, • Branch Committee Merseyside NARPO, • Associations, • Employment and Opportunities, • General Interest • Wanted & For sale • Technical – about these boards/computer help, • Global Moderators • Trash Can. • Each category is divided into a number of forums and these forums are again divided into any number of Topics. For example the “General Interest” category is divided into 5 forums, Enquiries from Outside, Events/Reunions, Consumer/Financial/Legal/Medical/Pensions, Hobbies and Interests and Home Owners Abroad. Each of these forums has a number of topics listed within them. These have been created by the members and once you have registered you too will be able to create topics which are of interest to you. Members may add messages or reply to messages within the Topics and thus have a virtual on line conversation about the Topic. When you first visit www.merseysidenarpo.com the only category visible is ‘Welcome’. The remaining categories are hidden until you either register as a member or Log-in with your user name and password. What are the messages about? There are lots of things to do on the message boards, you can talk about your favourite TV programme, seek long lost friends and colleagues and discuss anything within reason.
